During hard road, track, drift or dyno use, they can radiate heat into nearby wiring, vacuum lines, boost control hoses, brake lines, intake pipework and bodywork. That heat can make the engine bay harder to work around and can shorten the life of nearby components.

An external wastegate blanket works by helping to contain radiant heat at the wastegate instead of letting it spread through the engine bay. That helps protect nearby parts, reduces the chance of heat-related wiring or hose damage, and makes the turbo area safer to work around once the car has cooled.

External Wastegate Blanket Installation Guide:

Fitting is straightforward, but always wait until the wastegate is completely cool before touching it. Wear gloves when handling heat blankets because loose fibres can irritate skin.

1. Let the turbo system and wastegate cool fully before installation.
2. Check that you have the correct blanket size for your external wastegate.
3. Position the blanket around the external wastegate body. The shape should make the correct orientation clear.
4. Route the supplied locking wire around the blanket hooks.
5. Pull the locking wire tight enough to hold the blanket securely without crushing or distorting it.
6. Check clearance around boost hoses, vacuum lines, wiring and the screamer pipe or dump tube.
7. After the first heat cycle, recheck that the blanket is still secure and has not moved.
