Kurts EJ9 K=swap
Share
Kurt contacted us about a 27,000 mile EJ9 that he owned that he wanted to do a ground up nut and bolt restoration topped off with a K-swap to be able to use on the road for car meets and shows . He had already stripped the bay and had it freshly painted and had amassed quite the parts haul ready to the job himself but had become overwhelmed when faced with two pallets worth of almost all brand new parts that would need sorting and fitting to his car.
As expected with the mileage the shell was already very clean so we started off by stripping every component off the shell and completed a body coloured underseal and cavity wax in order to keep it that way !
Once complete we started the job of fitting vapour blasted and cerakoted heat shields, powder coated arms and hubs fitting with new bushes all round followed by a whole host of shiny new parts including MPC lower arms , BC ccoilovers and whole load of Hardrace parts using zinc plated bolts .
We then moved our attention to the engine bay . in went the low mileage k20a2 engine topped with one of our removeable baffle rocker covers painted in a close match Advan bronze along with a gearbox rebuilt by one day motorsport with the addition of an Mfactory race pack LSD before yet again being followed by a whole host of shiny new parts including a Skunk2 inlet manifold and throttle body , Hybrid racing air intake and radiator and a Hardrace strut brace .
The car then went down to Infinity exhausts where they modified the collection on the exhaust manifold from 2.5 to 3 inch and built a 3 inch exhaust for it . On the same day we carried on down to One day motorsport for a full wheel alignment . We had the car mapped by HPE Automotive on a DC5 Kpro V4 and on a well known dyno called the heartbreaker it made a healthy 242 BHP which is the highest power stock K20a2 to hit this dyno to date .
Interior wise we fitted a Acuity shifter , DC2 rear bench and a set of dials . On the outside Kurt opted for the subtle approach of the Advan wheels of course wrapped in Advan tyres .
The final step for this cars journey was a trip to Ants detailing for a full detail and ceramic coating to give the car back the shine to match the rest of its new appearance.
Kurts future plans include a pair of Btide bucket seats , personal steering wheel and a whole load of carbon !
We were very happy to bring Kurts idea of a dream Kswap build to reality. with no expense spared, the super low mileage of the chassis it surely has to be one of the best out there.
